Most of us weren’t taught how to navigate the big feelings that come with loss. So how are we supposed to guide the kids and teens in our lives to support a peer through loss? Here’s the good news: these are learnable skills. By normalizing the big feelings that come with loss and teaching kids how to support their peers through tough times, you can have a major impact on the young people in your life.
On May 22, I hosted the webinar “Learning Grief: Helping Kids Navigate the Big Feelings That Come with Loss.”
In this webinar, experts:
- discuss how death and non-death losses can impact kids
- explore differences between child grief and adult grief
- describe how you can coach and model healthy coping and relational skills
- share strategies for how you can guide the young people in your life to offer meaningful support to their peers

I ended my time in Hong Kong by giving a seminar titled “Get Grief Out There: Leveraging Social Media to Enhance Awareness, Education, and Impact.” It was hosted by the The Jockey Club Bereavement Care and Support Alliance, which is part of the Department of Social Work and Social Administration at the University of Hong Kong.
