I talked with Cheryl Jones about making space for grief—our own and our loves ones—and validating the experience as normal.
More about Good Grief with Cheryl Jones:
On Good Grief we explore the losses that define our lives. Each week, we talk with people who have transformed themselves through the profound act of grieving. Why settle for surviving? Say yes to the many experiences that embody loss! Grief can teach you where your strengths are, and ignite your courage. It can heighten your awareness of what is important to you and help you let go of what is not.
On Good Grief, we are inspired by people who have made something miraculous out of their deepest heartaches! We listen as they share how they have walked through their own exquisite pain and what they have gained as a result. We come away ready to follow our own dreams to a deeper, more meaningful time on this beautiful earth! Listen for Good Grief, broadcast live every Wednesday at 2 PM Pacific Time on the VoiceAmerica Health and Wellness Channel.

Check out my interview with grief advocate and author Megan Devine for WPSU-FM’s Take Note for insight into how we can get better at grief.
I always love talking with Megan because she’s great at giving practical advice and providing concrete language around how we can get better at showing up for each other.

It was great to share some of the work our team has done for the multi-platform project Speaking Grief with our community. I talked with host Kris Allen about how we can overcome the taboo against talking about grief and how we can learn how to support those who grieve.

I am a big fan of the Grief Out Loud podcast; it has been a helpful resource for the WPSU team as we sought to better understand the grief experience. So, it was exciting to have the opportunity to be by interviewed by Jana DeCristofaro about Speaking Grief. We talked the project’s inspiration and how months spent interviewing grieving people from across the country has influenced the way I experience my own grief and how I show up for the people in my life.
More about Grief out Loud:
Remember the last time you tried to talk about grief and suddenly everyone left the room? Grief Out Loud is opening up this often avoided conversation because grief is hard enough without having to go through it alone. We bring you a mix of personal stories, tips for supporting children, teens, and yourself, and interviews with bereavement professionals. Platitude and cliché-free, we promise! Grief Out Loud is hosted by Jana DeCristofaro and produced by The Dougy Center for Grieving Children & Families in Portland, Oregon. Be sure to subscribe to the podcast in iTunes or your favorite podcast platform.
